Fashion is such a personal thing, it reflects who we are as a person, what our likes and dislikes are and can be a mirror of our creative selves. I'm always fascinated by Haute Couture and the amazingly artistic artwork that goes into creating such beautiful designs. Fashion IS art, and can be a way that we explore our own creative sense of style. When people see us, the first two things they notice is our face and our clothes, so why not let your clothes reflect who you are and take the opportunity to present your truest self to the world, it creates confidence and self worth when we don't hide behind anything, even our clothes choices.
I've always been fairly simplistic in my fashion, choosing white over just about any color, although I do have some bright bold pops of color in my closet! I will share those outfits in other posts to show my slightly more daring, bolder side :) In this post I want to share my go to type of outfit, which usually consists of a pair of white or blue skinny jeans and my one stable item I cannot live without, the always fashionable button up white shirt, or variations of. My latest obsession is the Portofino shirts from Express, I have them in white, hot pink, stripes, polka dots, you name it, hahaha!! And they have such a huge selection of patterns and colors that there is something for just about everyone. You simply can't go wrong with a button up white shirt, it can be dressed up with white skinny jeans, a pair of heels and some classy accessories, like the Michael Kors watch and Rocksbox jewels shown in the pictures below, or you can slip on some cute flip flops and a pair of jean shorts and have a casual day outfit. And don't be afraid to go to stores like Zara, Express, H&M and Forever 21 to find classy, elegant pieces if that's what you are looking for. I'm over 40 years old, and might seem too "old" for those stores, but you can find some really classy, staple wardrobe pieces for great prices. and be sure to check out their jewelry and accessories for pieces that will compliment basic whites, such as the bracelets below. And these stores are of course great sources for those who are even more daring and like to be more outgoing with their style. With fashion, don't get stuck in a box, or what society thinks you should wear, or where you should shop, go with what works for YOU!
I would have to say my clothing truly does reflect my personality as I'm a more reserved type of person in a lot of ways, not too flashy or outrageous, I reserve that for my art instead, hehe :) What does your fashion say about you? Does it reflect your personality and how you present yourself to others? I think it's important for something so personal as our clothing choices to really be about who we are and for us to feel comfortable in those choices. Always stay true to YOU, and not be influenced by trends or what other's think. Share your personal style in the comments below, I would love to hear how you stay true to your fashion sense!
