Mikee (my cat) and I are FINALLY back on the road in "The MAD Warrior". Traveling through most of the Southwest for the next 9 months or so.
Last year in September, 2021, I left Miami, and Florida, which I had called home for over 25 years, to travel across the country to Washington and self convert my Ford Transit van I had just purchased. During the fall and winter months I was able to get the van ready for travel, and this past spring Mikee and I took off on a 6 week trip down the OR and CA coastline...it was all I imagined #VanLife would be 😍.
Then headed back to WA, where my daughter and I took off to Europe/Marrakech for two weeks, her Christmas gift to me 🤗💖. The dream trip of a lifetime, it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life!
Then back to WA I went, where I had hoped to travel all over the state with my cousin whenever she was off work (an ICU nurse). But, alas, it was not to be. My cousins babysitter fell through for the summer, and her husband is a commercial fisherman in AK during the summers, so she was left with no options for childcare for her 3 year old daughter, who I absolutely adore, and adores me back 😀! So I hung around the Sequim area, interspersed with a few travels locally, while on babysitting duty. But, longing to get back on the road and live the life I had created for myself, to be traveling, and painting, my way across the SW.
And now, it's happening and I'm just thrilled with what I've already experienced and it's only been a little over a month, haha! Around every corner is something new and awe inspiring. So, I've decided to do lots of paintings of the places I visit, including a National Park Series. There are lots of NP poster designs out there, but I want to do it in my style, something different, and obvi more colorful than you might usually expect...but, that's me 😀 Just like the painting I did of my visit to Lake Tahoe in the spring.
I will also continue to work on "A NeverEnding Story", my epic puzzle painting! And still offer the magnet pieces for all of you to collect. I am still working full-time as an artist, while cycling, hiking and exploring all the beauty this country has to offer :)
